While food has long been a tool of oppression, food sovereignty is a powerful organizing concept to create a sustainable, culturally appropriate food supply for historically marginalized communities. Join us for a panel with Laila El Hadad, Reem Assil, and Shakira Simley, food justice activists who have been active in advancing the conversation about the power of food in the struggles for justice in the United States, Palestine, and beyond. The conversation will be followed by a reception with a sampling of exquisite Palestinian cuisine prepared by Reem’s.
