Hundreds of people of all ages recently celebrated the opening of the New METREON by enjoying the upbeat tempo of live jazz music, the dramatic “Living Vines” performance artists and delicious offerings of unique eateries. The community celebration showcased the spectacular redesign of the popular dining, retail and entertainment destination overlooking Yerba Buena Gardens. There’s a new Dining Terrace with natural light pouring through its glass façade and expansive garden views. AMC Theaters METREON 16 renovated its box office and theatres. There’s a new mid-fourth street entrance that connects to the gardens. A trip up the escalators shows off the dramatic city skyline. And the City View events space on the fourth floor has a new contemporary design.
Guests can now enjoy Buckhorn Grill, Cako Bakery, Cako Creamery, Chronicle Books, Coriander Gourmet Thai, Jillian’s Billiard Club, La Boulange Baker & Café, Massage Envy, National University, San Francisco Soup Co., Sanraku, SoGreen Yogurt. At the celebration, the first 300 guests who presented a Dining Terrace receipt were given two complimentary movie passes. To showcase METREON’s focus on recycling and use of sustainable products, there was a commemorative photo opportunity with the METREON Living Wall. This fall, CityTarget arrives with a focus on the urban shopper, offering guests a selection of merchandise tailored for city-dwellers, including fresh grocery offerings.
