Groovin’ at The Grove

in Food & Drink

It was brunchin’ time one recent Saturday when I peeled into The Grove on Mission St. I found myself in a copse of towering trees bedecked with lights when I entered, with folk rock underscoring the distinct air of merriment about.

My stomach rumbled.

My eager eyes roved the menu. The Grove Eggs Benedict piqued my fancy, yet I decided ultimately upon the protein punch that is The Grove Cobb.

It arrived at my table in no time—a delicious smorgasbord of tender chicken strips, hardboiled egg, bacon bits, and potently palatable blue cheese atop a bed of baby greens.

I tucked in and soon felt abundantly ready for the rest of my day. For good measure, I cruised by the case of pastries, and was gripped by the sight of coffee cakes on display.

I procured myself some, plus a disposable fork, and crossed the street to enjoy my bounty in the Yerba Buena Gardens.

The cakes were drizzled in caramel syrup, to exquisite effect. Perfectly sweet and moist, those bad boys, combined with the tranquil sunshine in the Gardens, transported me to a very fine bliss indeed.

The Grove is open daily from 7:30 am to 8:30 pm and is located at 690 Mission St.
