SFMOMA’s Art Bash will keep the museum’s galleries smoldering into the wee ones, as the annual fundraiser lights up the iconic venue April 8 beginning at 6:00 pm. The idea is to pull off a party so sensuously transformative that it inspires support of the SFMOMA’s community outreach efforts. The party plan seems promising, to say the barest minimum.
SFMOMA, with its vast collection of 33,000 pieces, is no stranger to ingeniously creating space for art to play the full range of humanity’s arpeggios. Its roof-raisin’ fundraising will begin with an art auction where money doesn’t just talk, it warbles.
Arias, baby!
Build up a healthy appetite bidding on work by the iconic Jeff Koons, Larry Sultan, Lynn Hershman Leeson, to drop only a couple star-studded names from the list of artists represented at the auction.
Once all the art has been lost and won, indulge your senses with an artisanal dinner and handcrafted cocktails designed by the LA-based artist Sarah Cain.
Live music from the punk/power pop/new wave rockers The Linda Lindas, the veteran DJ Battle warrior Miles Medina, and other acts will then infuse the museum’s rarefied air with a wild buzz that will no doubt keep the atmosphere crackling ebulliently until the clock strikes 1:00 am.
Tickets are selling like literal hotcakes (some like them hot!) so better act swift.
