The Fly Trap Is Still Buzzing!

in Food & Drink

For over 135 years, The Fly Trap has served the community delectable plates, buzzing cocktails and gracious hospitality. A local favorite then, and a local favorite now, you can enjoy their newly heated garden patio located in the heart of the Yerba Buena District on 2nd and Folsom Streets.

One of the most attractive features is the old school atmosphere decorated with rich, handsome interior furnishings and vintage art. You can order an effervescent Pomelo Spritz, the fan favorite Pisco Disco, or their zesty Fly Trap Original Mai Tai stirred up by bartender and owner, Valen West. Along with a full bar experience, Fly Trap offers a respectable and varied full menu of Modern American dishes that range from a delicious kale Caesar salad to their one-of-a-kind Fried Chicken Sandwich to luscious house-made gnocchi and mouthwatering pork tacos. Their full menu is available for take out and delivery. Check out their website for more information.

Fun Fact: Back in the 1880s, during the days of horses and carriages, the original owner put out samples of food to attract passing customers. The small plates not only attracted happy patrons, but flies as well. The owner displayed fly traps near the samples to help combat the unwanted pesky “guests”. Locals loved the idea so much, they started calling this place, The Fly Trap and the name has stuck to this day.
