Update on MoAD’s Response to COVID-19

Museum of the African Diaspora

MoAD is temporarily closed. As of now all visits, tours, and events are postponed or canceled until further notice.

In accordance with recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention our on-site protocol includes increased frequency of cleaning and sanitizing of high touch surfaces throughout the museum, providing hand sanitizer stations for visitors, and regular reminders to our staff about infection prevention and related public health recommendations.

If you are sick, becoming sick, experiencing any flu-like symptoms, or have been exposed to others who have contracted the disease, please reschedule your visit to MoAD. To reschedule a pre-booked MoAD visit, or if you have further questions, please contact 415-358-7215. To reschedule a pre-booked MoAD Group Tour, or if you have further questions regarding Group Visits, please contact us via email at [email protected]

Additional resources on this rapidly evolving situation that may be useful to you and your family can be found on the San Francisco Department of Public Health and the City of San Francisco websites.

If you’re one of the many people in the Bay Area working from home, or generally helping to ‘flatten the curve’ now is a great time to browse our YouTube channel where we recently uploaded our entire Engage Symposium 2020: Picturing Blackness featuring Dr. Deborah Willis, photographers Tyler Mitchell, Adama Delphine Fawundu, Dario Calmese, and scholars across the Bay Area. Keep up with us on social media as we continue to share new content and make our programs and exhibitions increasingly accessible online.

If you have any questions regarding the status of MoAD’s open hours, programs, and events as circumstances continue to develop, please don’t hesitate to contact us at [email protected] or call 415-358-7215.
